Punjab government on Friday introduces new treatment scheme for the children who are in under 19. Under the Chief Minister’s Cancer Relief Fund, Health and Family Welfare Minister Brahm Mohindra today announced under 19 years children will be covered under a cancer treatment scheme at 18 hospitals in the state. Punjab government said that adult patients were allocated the Rs 1.5 lakh amount for treatment and also will not have to pay for treatment till the amount is exhausted.
Mohindra said that government is also providing health services to each and every child of the state who aresuffering from cancer. He also said the Health Department was also training medical officers and staff nurses to conduct tests relating to cancer for women and children in rural areas. The Punjab Department of Medical Education and Research also signed a Memorandum with CanKids organisation which helps children living with cancer.
